South Africa hosts festivals across all music genres, including:

• Rocking the Daisies – The country’s biggest rock festival, set in stunning natural surroundings.
• Up the Creek (February) – Famous for its river stage and the floating chain of inflatable rafts filled with festival-goers.

Most festivals offer free camping and take place on private farms with natural rivers or lakes. You’ll find high-quality amenities like pre-pitched tents, clean toilets and showers, food courts, wellness areas, and shuttle services.

Origin Festival – A magical psytrance and techno gathering. The main stage is complemented by a second dancefloor curated by our friends at Red Telephone Productions.

Bazique Festival – A collaboration between South Africa’s top festival organizers. With over six dancefloors and a strong “dress-up” culture, it creates a truly immersive atmosphere.

AfrikaBurn – One of the world’s most unique and controversial festivals. Held in the Karoo desert, it has no official lineup — participants create the dancefloors. There’s no money, no bars, no vendors — everything is based on sharing and community.
